Start with the basics

Check the exact Fire TV model and official app compatibility before purchase. Use the manufacturer’s power adapter and a suitable HDMI input. Have your own Amazon account and home-network details ready; do not share passwords with a setup helper.

  • Plug in the device and select the correct TV input. Follow the supplied remote-pairing instructions.
  • Join your home network and complete device registration using the on-screen instructions.
  • Apply offered software updates before installing apps. Keep the device powered during an update.
  • Find your service using the official Fire TV app search or Appstore. Verify the listing and publisher.
  • Open the app, sign in with your own service account and follow any legitimate activation instructions displayed on the screen.
  • Set viewing preferences and parental controls where available. Demonstrate Home, Back and input switching to everyone using the TV.

A missing app is a compatibility question

Check the provider’s supported-device list. Do not sideload an unofficial copy or pay someone to bypass a restriction. A subscription can have separate device, geography or account requirements. Installation alone does not grant viewing rights.

Live TV and BBC iPlayer require a valid UK TV Licence. Other paid services may require separate subscriptions. Refer to Amazon Fire TV Support for the current steps for your exact device.
